Welcome
Our 38th season opens the door to fresh ideas, new experiences
and opportunities to meet and dialogue with creative people. I thank our
dedicated, hard working all
volunteer Executive Board and Board of Trustees for their vision
and commitment to make our season a reality.
New this year:
1. Our water and sewer system is now connected to the Mullen House - no more running out of water because of a shallow well!
2. Our refurbished work room with a massive stainless steel sink.
3. Extended program . Responding to full -time community
members call for programs that complement their work schedule we have extended
our program to begin in May and end in September.

4. Guided excursions on Sunday afternoons to historical sites within our community (Keystone Arches, Becket Quarry) and to sites where the ingenuity and artistic talents of our neighbors can be enjoyed. (Abi's Web and our Garden Artist Studio Tour).
5. A Summer Solstice Bash on Saturday, June 21. Enjoy a cook-out and pot-luck supper a ccompanied by the sounds of a live Hispanic band , followed by a cinemascape medley of short films/videos. Inside the Arts Center, you will meet the currently exhibiting artists and enjoy a gallery reception.
6. A Gala Fundraiser on Sunday, August 17 to be held at the Becket Arts Center followed by dinner at the DreamAway Lodge to honor dancer, choreographer, Marge Champion.
7. An Invited Presentation: Exploration of the Connection between Artist, Subject and Viewer by William Oberst
8. Jewelry makers will now exhibit their work in our new glass exhibit cases.
9. A week-long Circus Camp and an Improv Theater series for
young people, in addition to visual arts, puppetry and "Dance Together at
the Pillow" Workshops.
Our two rotating gallery exhibits will
reflect the very diverse sources of inspiration and concerns of our accomplished
exhibiting artists.
Our adult workshops include drawing,
painting, sculpture, paper arts, basket weaving, stained glass, jewelry making,
photography, art projects, appliqué, clothes embellishment knitting,
astronomy, bridge, yoga, and dynatronics.

FUNDING The programs of the Becket Arts Center
of the Hilltowns are supported largely by membership contributions, We are
grateful to the people and businesses who have taken ads in this brochure
and to The Barrington Foundation Inc., The Puffin Foundation, The New York
Community Trust for their project support. Low workshop fees and scholarship
assistance for some workshop programs are also made possible, in part by
grants from the local Cultural Councils of Becket, Hinsdale-Peru, Lee, Washington,
and Worthington whose support comes from the Massachusetts Cultural Council,
a state agency.
