A Closer Look at Norman Rockwell's America
Monday July 14th • 7:30pm
"Without thinking too much about it in specific terms, I was showing
the America I knew and observed, to others who might not have noticed." Norman
Rockwell, a remarkable painter and a complex man, captured the American imagination
with compassionate images of family, community, and the world at large. This
illustrated talk will explore Rockwell's technical and artistic process, his
experiences as a working illustrator, and the extensive body of work that became
a defining national influence.
Stephanie Haboush Plunkett is the Deputy Director and
Chief Curator at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA. She is the
author of two American Library Association Notable children's books and the
curator of many exhibitions for the Rockwell Museum.
