Bring the family, your favorite dish to share and join the merriment as Summer Begins! The Barrington Jazz Ensemble at 5pm, Intergenerational Drumming at 7:30pm. Mask making at the Athenaeum. Jewelers Jennifer Barry and Lucy Sandler on the lawn. Wine and beer at the cash bar and win a Basket of Cheer!

Free event for women of all varieties - age 16+
Last year’s event was so successful, Zina is running it again! Participants adapt the ‘bridging’ technique in the construction of a physical representation of an unhealthy emotional bridge that has been formed and needs to be lit up and destroyed; all in a fun, safe and respectful format for women only.
Zina Jayne, artist, mother, librarian and igniter of all things, has an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Godard College and is Director of the Becket/Washington Library.

Learn the many nuances of making the international popular dish of Spanish Cuisine-Paella created by the talented Luis Zambrano, owner and chef of VIVA restaurant. Zambrano, trained at the Culinary Institute of NYC, worked in the Peninsula Hotel, NYC; Wheatleigh Hotel, Lenox, and as head chef at Gedney Farm, New Marlborough, MA. Participants will prepare the ingredients and then enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Susan Dworkin’s latest book is The Viking in The Wheat Field, a story about the shaky future of the food supply. Her play All Day Suckers was a hit at the New York Fringe Festival and her play The Old Mezzo will be performed by WAM Theater in Pittsfield next year.

David Giannini's most recent collection of poetry is AZ II (Adastra Press) available at the Becket Athenaeum. His major collection of prose poems, SPAN OF THREAD, is due this year from Cervena Barva Press (Boston.)

Susan Wojtasik, Poetry

Hannah Fries received a BA from Dartmouth College and an MFA in poetry from Warren Wilson College. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Cortland Review, faultline, PMS, and other journals. Associate Editor of Orion magazine, she was recently selected to take part in a month-long collaborative project with the Colorado Art Ranch in Lake City, Colorado.
Michelle Gillett’s published work includes Blinding the Goldfinches, winner of the Backwaters Poetry Prize and published in 2005. She is a contributing editor to The Women's Times, a regular op ed columnist for The Berkshire Eagle and a writing instructor. Her work has appeared in numerous journals and publications.
Susan Pond Wojtasik has published poems in several journals including The MacGuffin, The Berkshire Review, Frogpond, St. Luke's Review. She will read new poems and poems from her chapbook, Scarecrow in a Three Piece Suit.
