Summer Solstice Opening Party
Saturday, June 18th • 5 pm - 9 pm
Artist Reception 3-5pm

Summer SolsticeBring the family, your favorite dish to share and join the merriment as Summer Begins! The Barrington Jazz Ensemble at 5pm, Intergenerational Drumming at 7:30pm. Mask making at the Athenaeum. Jewelers Jennifer Barry and Lucy Sandler on the lawn. Wine and beer at the cash bar and win a Basket of Cheer!

Women Burning Bridges

Thursday, July 14th • 7:30 pm - 9 pm

Free event for women of all varieties - age 16+

 Women Burning BridgesLast year’s event was so successful, Zina is running it again! Participants adapt the ‘bridging’ technique in the construction of a physical representation of an unhealthy emotional bridge that has been formed and needs to be lit up and destroyed; all in a fun, safe and respectful format for women only.

Zina Jayne, artist, mother, librarian and igniter of all things, has an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Godard College and is Director of the Becket/Washington Library.

fBecome a Member at the Benefactor level of $120 or more and join us for this festive evening of dining and conversation at this scrumptious dinner at the Arts Center followed by “The Hilltowns’ Colorful History,” a romp through our communities past with historian Peg Goss.

A Tasty Event: Learn and Lunch at Viva Restaurant in Stockbridge

Learn the many nuances of making the international popular dish of Spanish Cuisine-Paella created by the talented Luis Zambrano, owner and chef of VIVA restaurant.  Zambrano, trained at the Culinary Institute of NYC, worked in the Peninsula Hotel, NYC; Wheatleigh Hotel, Lenox, and as head chef at Gedney Farm, New Marlborough, MA.  Participants will prepare the ingredients and then enjoy the fruits of their labor.

"Shot in the Dark" A Film Screening

Benefit for Becket Arts Center of the Hilltowns

Tuesday, August 2nd • 7 pm - 9 pm
Free Admission

Producer of HBO's documentary film, SHOT In The DARK, Jonathan L. Davidson,  will show the film. Before the HBO series, Entourage, Adrian Grenier goes on a search to find his father and to find out if in fact he needs a father. Audience questions  and comments will be welcome after the screening.

Damon Bazzeghin, Poetry - “Collateral Damage”

Saturday, May 28th• 2 pm


Damon is a Vietnam veteran. His poetry articulates his experiences in the war and subsequent readjustment to civilian life. The atrocity that is war, and its wasting disease, is without antidote. "Collateral Damage" is a piece.
Damon traveled to Russia and Great Britain in April 2011 to share his work there.

Susan Dworkin, Fiction and
David Giannini, Poetry


Saturday, July 16th • 2 pm

Susan Dworkin’s latest book is The Viking in The Wheat Field, a story about the shaky future of the food supply. Her play All Day Suckers was a hit at the New York Fringe Festival and her play The Old Mezzo will be performed by WAM Theater in Pittsfield next year.

David Giannini's most recent collection of poetry is AZ II (Adastra Press) available at the Becket Athenaeum. His major collection of prose poems, SPAN OF THREAD, is due this year from Cervena Barva Press (Boston.)

Hannah Fries, Michelle Gillett and
Susan Wojtasik, Poetry

Saturday, August 27th • 2 pm

Hannah Fries received a BA from Dartmouth College and an MFA in poetry from Warren Wilson College.  Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Cortland Review, faultline, PMS, and other journals. Associate Editor of Orion magazine, she was recently selected to take part in a month-long collaborative project with the Colorado Art Ranch in Lake City, Colorado.

Michelle Gillett’s published work includes Blinding the Goldfinches, winner of the Backwaters Poetry Prize and published in 2005. She is a contributing editor to The Women's Times, a regular op ed columnist for The Berkshire Eagle and a writing instructor. Her work has appeared in numerous journals and publications.

Susan Pond Wojtasik has published poems in several journals including The MacGuffin, The Berkshire Review, Frogpond, St. Luke's Review. She will read new poems and poems from her chapbook, Scarecrow in a Three Piece Suit.
