6/12 ARTISTS PANEL, 5:00-7:30 PM:  In this Panel Discussion, learn from several Local LGBTQ+ Artists what inspires them, evolution of their work, & the ways their queerness does & does not affect their work.

Rachel Kaufmann, a lesbian oil painter who has been painting since college. Her current work focuses on queer scenes from the Berkshires. “I am inspired by the work of Nicole Eisenman & the German Expressionists.”

Mitchell Sellers, a Quilt Artist who grew up in Georgia where he learned quilt-making from his grandmother & earned BFA at Georgia Southern University. Studied acting, improv, & dance, working in Chicago for 5+ years & toured with theatre companies. Lived in Boston 25 years & moved to Berkshires 3 years ago. Began quilt design as a hobby that grew into a passion.

Johanna Merfeld, As a mixed-media artist & art educator living & working in the Berkshires, she seeks to surround herself with fellow queer creatives. Born & raised in Boston, she’s been making art since she was old enough to hold a pencil. These days she’s inspired by contemporary artists Mickalene Thomas & Christina Quarles, as well as the work of German Expressionist Egon Schiele.

Christopher Pierce, is a nationally recognized fine artist who paints florals, still lifes, portraits, figures, & interiors with panache & a mature sensitivity. Along with his stunning portraiture, he is well known for the huge & commanding florals that come from the bounty of his gardens in Upstate New York. In recent years, the art press has focused attention on his talents with rave coverage in American Artists Magazine, International Artist Magazine, & numerous regional journals.
