Travels With Missie: The Photographs

Kevin O’Hara of Pittsfield will share his images and humorous anecdotes of his timeless and extraordinary journey around Ireland.

His first book, “Last of the Donkey Pilgrims” chronicles his nine-month, 1,720-mile journey around the Emerald Isle with his lovable (but sometimes stubborn) donkey, Missie, in 1979.

Library Journal called his beloved travel saga, “One of the finest books about contemporary Ireland ever written.” In 2012, The Christian Science Monitor ranked “Donkey” as one of Irelands Top Ten Books. That same year, O’Hara was the proud recipient of the prestigious John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Award.
